The definition of “Vegan Cosmetic” ensures that the product we are using does not contain ingredients of animal origin and their derivatives.

The use of ingredients of animal origin is sometimes masked by generic terms supported by the law. It is therefore essential to carefully read the INCI of a cosmetic to be sure of the absence of animal derivatives. In some cases, however, their indication is not required in the INCI because they are contained in limited quantities or because they are eliminated following the completion of the production cycle. This is the case with processing aids and manufacturing aids used in the preparation of food products.

Many ingredients of animal origin can be replaced with plant derivatives or biotechnological synthesis.

The evaluation of a true “Vegan Cosmetic” involves several stages, including:

  • The initial assessment of the products and the production process, which includes, among other things, the assessment of the composition of the products for which certification is required, as well as the conformity of the raw materials through the technical data sheets of all components, including additives and adjuvants technological.
  • The correct organization and management of manufacturing processes and internal procedures that could compromise the conformity of the product itself with the requirements defined by the standard.
